Back in 2001, director, Barbara Musgrove, created an elite one-of-a-kind studio that continually surpasses itself year after year. Her experience as a mother of dancers and the struggle she faced driving them to different studios seeking appropriate classes lead her to this brilliant concept. She produced a studio that has everything she was missing as a parent under one roof.
Dance Explosion encourages the betterment of every student. Each
student is at a different level and seeking diverse paths in dance and
they are equipped for all types from the casual dancer to the one
seeking a professional career. They provide proficient up to date
instruction in the art of dance. They hire the most professional staff

Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Modern, Lyrical and Hip Hop
Dance Explosion offers an assortment of classes at various levels in the disciplines of; Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Modern, Lyrical and Hip Hop. Classes begin at age three and continue into adult students at all levels. Art awareness expands the mind as well as condition the body. Even the public schools are noting this as they have included dance into the middle and high schools. However, these schools are limited in their ability to place students in appropriate class levels as they are mixing beginners with the experienced. At Dance Explosion, students are placed according to their level of experience.
Best Pre Professional showDance Explosion is a dance studio that has set themselves apart from others. One of the greatest compliments the studio has received is being discussed as the Best Pre Professional show in the area. Each June, they perform their Annual Revue over a three-day period at the Gilliard Auditorium. This allows all of the dancers to display what they have learned throughout the year. Students, teachers, family members and the community all come to support, watch and be entertained by the students.
They have an established performing and competitive team. These students are privileged to participate in local performances as well as competitions and conventions nationally. This group not only benefit from the performance opportunities but the value of being part of a team and the hard work that takes place as they are recognized and awarded. This year alone, this team has won Fantastic Team Awards that include Platinum Trophies, along with 29 awards, of which half were first, second or third place overall awards. One of their dancers, Allison Burke received the Hollywood Vibe "Dancer of the Year" award as well as the title for "Junior Miss South Carolina State." While their team instructor, Corinne Musgrove, received honors for "Best Choreographer'" and "Most Entertaining'" routine. This was quite an award for Corinne as this was her first year as their instructor.
Watching this dance team perform together, you would be utterly amazed at their zeal. These students practice six days a week. At first I was shocked, but as I spoke with them and saw them interacting amongst one another, I discovered they are a family within themselves. They have created bonds that appear unbreakable. Each one knows the other, including Barbara, the director, knew each student's name and who they are as an individual and a dancer. The students developed relationships similar to mother daughter and the older ones helped them with whatever they struggled with, from dancing to homework. When asked if they would rather do anything besides dance, their response was eating and sleep, thus making dancing their life.

Our Full Day Summer intensive begins June 10, 2009 at the N. Charleston Studio, 8028 Dorchester Rd. Tuition for each week is $145. Field trips are scheduled for Fridays
Drop off as early as 7:00 am, pick up by 6:00 pm - Ages 4+
Our evening weekly classes begin July 6th - Aug 14th. One class a week is $60 session fee - Ages 3+
We are adding Gymnastics to our disciplines beginning with this summer session and progressing thru the fall semester.
